The Irish Sea Rim is essentially a practical delivery vehicle for innovation at scale across the Irish Sea region, breaking down barriers and catalysing cross-border collaboration. Our focus on the quadruple helix of government, business, academia, and place provides a strong foundation for regional regeneration and connected prosperity, particularly in urban, rural, and coastal areas and communities which have traditionally not seen the benefits of the rapid economic growth of city regions.
Figure 24.1 provides an outline delivery roadmap for establishment of the Irish Sea Rim, the development of pilot initiatives, and the contribution to major place-based initiatives such as Local Innovation Partnerships and UK-SHORE funded projects. This roadmap is a live plan and will be contingent upon establishing a sustainable funding base (Section 29) and on stakeholder opportunities and priorities. The Irish Sea Rim is an agile organisation, and we have expertise in delivering initiatives from concept to execution to impact. Establishing governance will be a top priority, and we will work with our partners across the six member countries to create the Irish Sea Rim 5-10 year strategy and operational plan.
